  1. Love the Style but not for Long-term wear - very fragile

I am 20 and have been buying wigs for the past 5 years due to dealing with Trichotillomania. I had never purchased a wig online before as I didn't really want to end up with something that had bad quality or was not what I had envisioned or read about. I purchased the Zara in the 12-30BT color (Root beer) in December as they had an awesome sale going on and I was only charged $236 with free shipping. I found that nice that the sales and the free shipping, also the free return and money back if it wasn't up to your standards. I bought my first wig when I was in 8th grade in Singapore. I know that some girls with trich think that the only way to get better is to not wear a wig or something to cover the bald spots and endure the teasing. But anyways back to Wigs. In Singapore it was hard to get a wig as most of the boutiques were purely for fashion and the other problem was a lot of the stores carried synthetic wigs that looked and felt very similar to the texture of Asian hair. It was also hard to find a color that suited me in a more reputable brand. The first wig I got was the Angelica by Noriko. It was machine tied and machine everything I remember it looked so bad at the hair line. I then bought a few more Rene of Paris mono-filament top synthetic wigs before I left Singapore in 2010. I moved to (Austin TX and then to Ontario, Canada).. and wore these wigs every day, I switched out between the two but because of the weather and trying to style them they got very patchy and frizzed out within a year of buying them. They originally were nicer quality as the first one I bought but didn't last nearly as they were mono-filament hand tied/machine back long and I wore them every day. However in both Austin and Canada I worked with someone who owned a wig shop and were specialists in the wig field.. however both of the people I worked with had their own suppliers in Asia and preferred not to buy popular brand name wigs. So my next two wigs were from who knows where but lasted me 2 years.. and every month I brought them to my wig specialist for a deep clean and defrizzing treatment. I learned a lot from the woman in Canada about styling techniques including steaming and washing. When I moved back to the USA 4 months ago I went looking in the New England area for a specialist however specifically in NH there are not that many. I went to a shop where they were specifically for wig customization work and learned a lot about my head size (Petite btw) and what the specifics were that I wanted in a wig. I got a quote for a human hair wig which is what I have been striving to get this past year but the quote seemed to be a bit much as I told him I didn't require the best of the best for hair (whether its European or Brazilian idk).. So after I thought this over in my head I decided to go against buying a human hair wig as I figured I need to consult and learn about it a bit more from different wig specialists in the New England area..and instead of pursuing that I bought this Zara wig on Vogue Wigs because of the reviews and pictures and because I was in need of a new wig.. I think it is awesome that voguewigs has these features on their site as it is very helpful. When I took the Zara wig out of the box it felt amazing.. however most synthetic wigs that are more than $150 usually do. And the lace front was very nice as well. Initially before buying this I wanted to try and find a full lace wig so it would look more realistic and I could tie it back in a pony tail or pull the sides off my face. I decided however in order to find something in my price range that was had the long and layered look I was going for I was going to have to give up something from what I was asking for as it was going to drive the price up to the $800s. I'm not sure that I can give an accurate review on this wig as I have not owned a lace front wig before.. but as far as synthetic wigs go when you try them on for the first time this one is fabulous. I love its long layered look and found it unnecessary to go to a specialist to give it a trim.. usually wigs have too much hair and need to be de-poofed to say the least but this one does not need it. If you are new to wigs you may think that this one has too much hair and could use a hair trim but trust me over time hair will fall out from using a wide tooth comb or wig brush and even from running your fingers through it.. don't thin it out! I tried to go as long as I could without washing this wig as I didn't want to lose the initial luster it had but gave up after 2 weeks of wearing it on and off. The first few washes I just used the shampoo and conditioner I had for synthetic wigs.. I looked up videos on youtube and researched online but didn't/and still don't really know how to go about washing the lace front as it seems quite fragile and could tear. It has been 2 months now and honestly.. I am not so sure on the recommendation anymore.. because I am very careful with my wigs and the lace front of this wig is fraying and losing hair. It is also bunching up right on the hairline..I don't know what to do with it honestly because I don't want to damage the lace. When I first bought the wig It felt so cool to be able to run my fingers back with the hair away from my face in the sexy way where it would be able to naturally then fall off to the sides but now after 2 months I can do that anymore because the lace is bunching up right around the hairline and some of the baby hairs are getting woven in to the lace somehow and I can see a dark brown line (a baby hair) at the top of my hair line.. making it seem like any other mono-filament top or machine woven wig.. Also another thing.. also another thing this wig cannot be styled what so ever and I know how to carefully style synthetic hair.. but anything I do frizzes it out.. I gave up after trying to steam it in order to de-frizz it.. everything I try just makes the hair feel really dirty and oily and the littlest bit of heat or friction completely wilts and shrinks up strands of hair and I'm talking about the back.. away from the lace..Initially I loved this piece and I still do but it definitely is not for long term wear.. it seems to be very fragile.. and should be a back up piece to a more expensive wig.. I am used to wigs lasting more than 2 years and I don't think this one is going to last even a year.. however.. for my first online wig purchase it definitely exceeded my expectations.

  2. My favorite wig

This wig is INCREDIBLE. The style and color are both gorgeous (my color is shaded praline) and the lace front is very natural, I get so many compliments and everyone wants to know how I get my hair so soft and shiny ;) I love the length, too. Since losing my hair I've found this is the only wig that makes me feel like "me." This wig is also very comfortable and I can wear it 16 hours a day. Since this is a long hair wig i like to carry a small brush in my purse for when I'm out and about until late, long hair wigs tend to get a bit tangled in the back.
