Double Monofilament
A softer, double monofilament material that will help to eliminate irritation against the scalp, provides a more comfortable and lightweight wig wearing experience. Hair is individually knotted onto the mesh which gives the wearer the ability to style the hair in any direction. Double Monofilament Wigs are usually preferred by women who suffer from medical hair loss.
|
Lace Front
A lace front wig is a wig with mesh at the hairline. The mesh will often have a neutral skin color that will disappear once applied to your hairline. The lace is undetectable and will allow you to have an extremely natural and exposed hairline. Most lace fronts will extend from temple to temple.
|
Monofilament
A monofilament top or mono-top wig will have a transparent lace like material on the top of the wig, where each individual fiber has been hand knotted onto the lace. This will give you the most realistic scalp appearance and will allow you to change the parting on the wig, where the monofilament fiber is located.
|
Partial Monofilament
This cap type is a more affordable version of a monofilament wig. The part of the cap, which could be positioned on the right, left, or center of the wig, is constructed with a fine poly-silk mesh material. This feature provides comfortable and breathability, as well as a very natural hairline, allowing skin color to show through and giving the illusion of hair growing from the skin. The width of the PM can vary by vendor, from 2-3 inches
|
Perma Tease
Crimping effect done at the root of the wig to create a permanent volumized look. This will lessen the styling time and you will not be causing any damage with back combing or teasing to the fiber.
|
Polyurethane Strip
Polyurethane strips or tabs are added to the inside of wig caps made with those suffering from hair loss in mind. Adhesive or wig tape can be easily applied to the polyurethane strips for a more secure fit and washed off at the end of the day.
|
Wefts
A weft of hair is a long “curtain” of hair that has a seam at the top. Wefts of hair will be found on wigs and hair extensions.

Hand-Tied Wig
Style Shown: Jacquelyn Monofilament Human Hair Wig
Hand tied wigs are wigs which have individual hair fibers hand tied to the cap during the manufacturing process. This delicate and time consuming process creates the most natural hair look because each hair is filled in one by one.
Traditional Wig Cap
Style Shown: Vintage Vixen Synthetic Wig
The most common of all wig caps, it usually has a closed lace layer around the crown at which the hairs are sewn onto by machine. The hair is usually styled in such a way that the crown is lifted so the cap is not visible. This cap gives the hair volume at the crown due to the natural lift. The sides and back of the wig are constructed with wefts of hair. They have about 1/2” of space between each row so the wig will be light and well ventilated.
Memory Cap
Style Shown: Sparkle Synthetic Wig
A cap replaces the wide stretch lace used in most wigs, with a thinner, more resilient stretchy material that actually molds to the shape of the head. This produces a lighter and more secure fit.
Futura Fiber
Style Shown: Paviola Lace Front Wig
Synthetic high heat friendly fiber that can withstand heat up to 350 °F. Futura is being used for weaving hair, bulk braiding hair, wigs and lace front wigs. It is also used for human hair blended products such as blended weaving hair and blended wigs. Futura synthetic hair fibers do not cause any itching since it is not processed with chemicals that can irritate the scalp.
Heat Friendly Fibers

Kanekalon
Style Shown: Trend Setter Synthetic Wig
This trademarked synthetic fiber made from modacrylic fibers. It’s the most common fiber in synthetic wigs and hair extensions.
Remy Human Hair
Style Shown: Medi-Tach Human Hair Wig
Not all human hair products will be Remy. Remy means that the cuticle of the fiber is still intact and will be facing one direction. This will creates less tangling and results in a softer fiber. Non-Remy human hair will mean the cuticles have been removed or the hair fibers are not all facing the same direction. This causes more friction, so there will be slightly more tangling in the fibers.
Yaki Hair
Style Shown: Perry Lace Front Wig
Yaki hair refers to the processed texture in which the fibers resembles chemically relaxed Afro Caribbean hair. Yaki hair may be from a synthetic, Remy or non-Remy source.
