Very full and may need styling but overall realistic and gorgeous!By Cynthia Cox from TX on December 7, 2011 Wooooow this is a TON of hair! I will include two pictures - both before and after trimming and styling. I thinned the heck out of this wig and cut a lot of length (professionally) but the end results are fantastic. It's still plenty full and the movement of the hair is so real as is the monotop parting. My husband actually commented on how real this looks and he is so used to my wigs he usually doesn't comment at all. I got it in the color 33RH29 and it has some nice dark elements to the color that keep it from being totally red so it blends better with any of my natural black hair that might show - really gorgeous color. I love this wig and in spite of having to get it styled I would purchase it again. One of my favorites for the realism and - once the weight was thinned out - comfort. In my pictures, the first one is the before and the second is after but I think that's obvious!Pros:Very full - lots of hair to work with
Color
Hair fiber is so natural and nice
Nice movement to the hair
Realistic monotopCons:So thick it needed a lot of thinning and styling
Before thinning was very heavy - after it is comfyI would recommend this item to a friend. The Amanda by Jon RenauBy kate from Detroit, Michigan on November 7, 2011 I have alopecia totalis. I was really sick of paying so much money at a wig stylist (upwards of 600.00) for my wigs. When i saw "The Amanda" i was super excited by not only the price but the brand name i am so used to. I have taken care of this wig better than any of my other wigs. Aesthetically it is beautiful but i was shocked when the first time i washed it, it lost ALL softness and turned into the feeling of "horse hair". No matter which products i have tried, none of them were able to return the softness to the wig. Also it only take the wig about 5 minutes to become Unruly and tangled after brushing - even when wig lustre and wig shine are used. The result? you are losing a lot of hair by trying to keep this wig brushed out. I am not sure it was worth the money because i have only had it a month or so and it will need a trim from frizzing soon. This wig is not a higher quality synthetic. But it really does look beautiful.Pros:It looks realistic
The length is amazing
Love the color choices
PriceCons:It tangles immediately upon wear
It is not soft after first wash
The velcro tabs cut into your head because they are so sharp
You lose a lot of hair from having to brush it so much
Seductive, StylishBy Katrina from India on September 14, 2011 I waited for a couple of days before I could rate AMANDA by Jon Renau. The reason is, you need to get used to the wig, see how much does it shed rather than decide that it is awesome by its first look. First looks can often be misleading.
Amanda is a long, layered style, with long bangs, and mono-filament top makes it easy to part, and the scalp looks real. So that's a good news. The quality of the hair, can easily pass for real hair. And it doesn't tangle much or shed a lot, unlike Zara, which is again by Jon Renau. So if you're deciding between Zara and Amanda, the latter is a much better choice.
Though Amanda is not a lace front wig, it is made smartly, and with a side swept long bang, no one can make out you're wearing a wig. You can't go for middle parting, though. But Amanda offers you a lot of styling options and side partings. It is perfect for a red-carpet like evening out, or a casual dinner or movie with friends and even for formal meetings, it is ideal.Pros:Realistic Scalp
Easy Parting
Good Quality Hair
Good Pre-styled long layered bangs
Sheds little
Tangles lessCons:It's price.I would recommend this item to a friend.PraticalBy Lillian from Toronto, ON on July 26, 2011 If you need a synthetic for short term, this is perfect. I usually wear human hair, but this time I just needed something more afforadble for 6 months only, and the Amanda is perfect. I am very happy with it.Pros:Easy wear
Could use curling iron with low setting on damp hair.I would recommend this item to a friend.good wig, but high matinence.By loryn from decatur, illinois on June 27, 2011 I have alopecia universalis, so i don't have any hair to pull through, I've figured out many ways to make this wig very versatile. I can put it in a high pony tail with a thick headband to cover the back hairline. I also love to put it half up half down with a little bump (: this wig needs brushed quite a bit though it tangles so easily and can look quite fake if it's not brushed. all around i really love this wig, although it has it's faults it's definitely worth it.Pros:versatility
length
bangs
Cons:tangles

I have purchased a number of wigs in this past year including with the Bennett by Tony of Beverly, then the Scene Stealer by Raquel Welch, and this one.
And I would have to say, this one is my favourite!
First of all, I would have to say that this wig on its own without styling probably is very unrealistic looking. In fact, when I first put it on, I was a little upset, having recently been a bit disappointed with the Scene Stealer. I found the front very bulky looking and Wiggy.
But then I played around with it a bit and was able to pull some of my own hair through the front and it made a huge difference!
When I pulled my own hair through the front , it made the hairline look less bulky and quite natural looking. And thankfully the colour of the wig matched my own wonderfully.
I have Alopecia Areata and Alopecia Ophiasis so I have much hair loss but then I also still have much of my own hair around my outer hair lines. This wig has the glue tabs to allow me to attach to my bald patches above my ears for a secure hold with some tape or liquid adhesive. Though many wigs are lace front and no tape needed, that's fine if you have a full head of hair underneath. But I have a small child and sometimes, long hair gets tugged on, whether it be during a tantrum or just from picking her up. And if my wig comes off, the world knows I have Alopecia. And it's just not something I need to advertise to complete strangers, so I need the tape tabs for the extra security and not many wigs come with those. This one has plenty!!! I am actually so confident with this one, that I am debating shaving my inner hair right down to give myself some comfort during the hot summer months.
I love the length, because it provides great freedom. The shortest layers are also very long. I don't like the shorter wigs because you're stuck with the style that's already been cut into it. This wig would allow you to take it to a wig stylist and literally cut any style into it if you don't want the super long hair.
I think that this wig would also work great with bangs. I am thinking of ordering a second one in a different colour already. I am thinking of the 24BRH10 since it's slightly lighter but seems to have the darker tones to it also possibly blending nicely with my very dark ash blonde hair colour.
The colour 8H14 that I ordered is so natural looking, not brassy or overly shiny, but healthy looking. It's soft, and the layers are just like I used to wear before I was diagnosed with AA and was forced into a life of short/no hair.
One other plus I have with this wig that I didn't see with the others, is the size of the cap. Average in my opinion is always slightly smaller, especially if you have hair to hide underneath. I also have a slightly larger head. And this cap was so accommodating to my monster skull.
I also love that even with so much hair, it's not bulky all over. Even with my giant head, I am still able to throw on a baseball hat or cadet cap and flatten the hair to make it look straighter with some spray on conditioner or shine spray or even a bandana or scarf.
I once owned a human hair full lace system which was so pretty and natural looking, but very expensive, and very uncomfortable as it would be worn for weeks at a time. And this is the closest alternative I was able to find, with the freedom of being able to take it off and throw on a bandana at the end of each day. I am so happy that Jon Renau made this wig and hope they never stop making it.
I would recommend this one just with the understanding that some styling will be required with the front hairline to tame and lighten it lightly. I would like to see this same style with maybe a half inch lace front in the front to allow a slightly more natural looking hairline. But hair and cap quality is so far the best I've seen and I am super happy.
Pros:Length
Quality of hair - it's so soft and barely tangles
Layers are subtle, just enough for body but not too styled
Tape tabs for those of us without hair - there is plenty of them.
Accommodating wig cap size for the larger heads
Colour is so natural and with the highlights, it could blend nicely with a few shades up or down
Cons:Front is a little bulky, but with bangs or blending with your own hair, this will not be an issue.I would recommend this item to a friend.Really nice!By love my hair from Australia on January 9, 2011 Gorgeous, natural look and very comfortable to wear. The Mono top means you can have flexibility where you part it. It's a nice length and has lasted many washes.Pros:Natural look

flexibility where you part itI would recommend this item to a friend. The best long wigBy Shana from Virginia on December 1, 2010 The hair feels and looks like real human hair it is nice and thick like my hair used to be. It blows the Sceen Stealer away that hair gets tangled but is still nice. I WILL oder this in another color. I got 6/33 the signature color and it is a beautiful red brown color thank you Vouge Wigs.Pros:looks and feels like human hair
no tangles
thick
comes with a bang you can customize by hair dresser a plus for me.Cons:NONE AT ALL I would recommend this item to a friend. Its okay.By jennifer from Parker, co on October 20, 2010 I really wanted to love this wig. I was so excited for it to come, but when I put it on it was such a let down. The hair is extremely full on top in the front, and with no bangs it was very hard for me to style it in a way that didnt scream "I'm wearing a wig!". I did end up cutting a longer side bang and that made it work much better for me. My other wigs are all forever young, so I am used to a "shake and wear" style and this required some trimming to make it work. The cap is a bit large on me as well, and even with the adjustable velcro straps, I have to use tape to keep it from sliding around. The cap is comfortable, but it does get warm under all this hair. I could not imagine wearing this wig in the summer, but it will be very nice for winter.Pros:I ordered 6/33 and its gorgeous red/brown
hair is very soft and does not shed much
mono cap is fantasticCons:Hair was very thick and bulky around the face which did not suit me at all.I would recommend this item to a friend.Best WigBy Amanda from NY on June 1, 2010 I have lots of wigs sence i recently cut my hair very short due to damage. This is definatly the best it's so soft and very beautiful and has a loose wave at the bottom and the monoflimate part is very soft, confortable, and very real looking. Part!!Cons:none best wig ever!I would recommend this item to a friend.synthetic, but real lookingBy Mira from PA on January 11, 2009 if you want a very realistic long style, this is a great wig. it looks great on and feels real. i originally thought i would have to exchange this and was prepared to pay the 20% fee. after actually getting it, i knew it would be perfect. it's not too heavy considering the length. although it's synthetic, it does look and feel very real. the color is very real too. if you've never bought a wig before, get the color ring. i knew the color i ordered would be what i wanted since that's what i used to choose the color. rambling now... but the wig is great. definitely worth the investment. | |
